BMW EV Service Intervals
Your standard BMW EV routine maintenance includes many services that you might recognize, like tire rotations and wheel alignments, along with some that are specific to the electric segment. Here’s a brief rundown of services in your BMW EV maintenance guide:
- Battery: Your certified EV technician will check battery fluid levels, filler openings, connections, and the battery’s cycle count. Most EV car batteries reach up to 100,000 miles – but only when they stick to the manufacturer-recommended BMW electric car maintenance schedule.
- Coolant: EVs have special thermal management or cooling systems to help shield the battery from heat sources, so checking the coolant is an absolute must. You’ll also need coolant or antifreeze flushes as needed.
- Brakes: You can keep tabs on your EV brake fluid levels at home and add more if needed. However, you’ll also need to schedule regular brake inspections and fluid flushes every 3 to 5 years or so for the Cherry Hill roads.
- Tires: Schedule your tire rotations every 5,000 to 10,000 miles and wheel alignments every 15,000 miles or so. This will ensure that your car stays true on the road, while also keeping your tires and wheels in great shape.
- Air Filters: Your air filters prevent all the pollen, debris, and dust from circulating the cabin and getting into your lungs. And luckily, most replacement filters only cost around $50. Change your filters every two or three years or up to five years for a HEPA model.
- Air Conditioning: Old refrigerant, dirty lubricants, and deteriorating heater pump elements can cause your air conditioning system to lose its cool. So before the heat of the summer sets in, be sure to get your air conditioning serviced.
- Windshield Wipers: Not only should you replace your windshield wipers twice a year, but you’ll also want to add more fluid every 5,000 to 10,000 miles. Check your owner’s manual to learn more!
You may have noticed that several of the most common vehicle maintenance tasks are not included on this list. This is because when you drive an EV in Cherry Hill, some of the usual routine maintenance requirements of an internal combustion engine are no longer required. For example, your EV will not need regular oil changes. With fewer moving parts to repair, maintenance is much less of an investment, both financially and in time spent at the service center.
